Greg’s vision is simple: build a stronger, smarter, and more connected Ankeny—one that works for everyone. He wants to grow the city in a responsible way while protecting what makes Ankeny a great place to live. That means focusing on smart development, supporting first responders, and creating more opportunities for families, young professionals, and future generations.
Key Issues I Will Tackle
Affordable Housing
Ankeny is growing fast, but many people—especially young professionals and first-time homebuyers—are being priced out. Greg supports adding more affordable housing options so everyone has a fair shot at calling Ankeny home.
Public Safety & Infrastructure
Greg fully supports the police, fire, and public works teams who keep Ankeny safe and running. He’ll fight to make sure they have the tools and funding they need to protect all of us.
Smart Development
As Ankeny continues to grow, Greg believes in planning responsibly. That means making sure new developments fit the community, don’t strain resources, and bring long-term value.
Job Growth & Income Opportunities
Greg wants to attract new corporations and good-paying jobs to Ankeny. He believes our young people shouldn’t have to leave town to find opportunity—they should be able to build their futures right here.
Keeping Taxes Low
Greg understands families are feeling the squeeze. He’s committed to keeping tax rates low while still finding ways to responsibly invest in Ankeny’s future.
Mental Health
Mental health is one of the biggest public safety issues we face. I’d work to bring more mental health resources into our public safety system, including training for officers and partnerships with mental health professionals.

Greg Romans is a strategic thinker, problem solver, and has been Ankeny resident for the last 15 years who’s ready to bring fresh energy and real results to the city council. Greg and his wife Amber have become grandparents for the second time recently and his goal is to see her grow up in Ankeny one day.
He’s built a career by thinking ahead, using data to guide decisions, and staying focused on outcomes that matter. Greg’s creative background means he’s not afraid to think differently and support the people of Ankeny.
